How a UAE mobile number is built

Every UAE mobile number is 9 digits after the +971 country code, always starting with 5, under the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authorityโ€™s (TDRA) numbering plan. The second digit identifies the carrier - Etisalat holds 050 and 056, while du holds 052, 054, 055, and 058. A dummy number here, such as +971 555500000, keeps the required 5X shape without matching either carrierโ€™s real block.

A note on the โ€œ555โ€ in these numbers

The UAE has no officially reserved block for fictional or testing phone numbers, unlike the North American 555 convention this site borrows the idea from. The 555 here is our own marker to make the output read as obviously non-real, not a TDRA-recognised range.

FAQ

Will a generated number verify on a UAE app that needs Emirates ID or bank OTP verification? No. Those flows send a code to a real SIM to confirm identity or a transaction, and a dummy number has no SIM behind it, so nothing is ever delivered. Use these numbers to fill and test the form, not to clear a live verification step.

Does the second digit tell you Etisalat from du? For a real number, roughly - 050/056 are Etisalat, 052/054/055/ 058 are du. For a generated number, no - the 555 marker doesnโ€™t map to either carrierโ€™s assigned block.

What you can use them for

What they are not

These numbers cannot receive SMS or OTP codes. They are not temporary, virtual, or disposable inbox numbers. If you need to actually receive a verification code in UAE, you need a real SIM or a paid virtual number service - this is the wrong tool for that.

Is it legal to use a fake phone number?

Yes, for testing, demos, documentation, and mockups. Using any number - fake or real - to impersonate someone, commit fraud, or get around a verification step you're required to complete is not.

These numbers are randomly generated dummy data. They are not real, cannot receive SMS or OTP codes, and are not temporary or disposable inbox numbers. Use them for testing, examples, documentation, UI mockups, and seed data only.
