How an Indonesian mobile number is built
Indonesiaโs mobile numbers all start with 8 under Komdigiโs (formerly Kominfo) national
numbering plan, but their real-world length actually varies - a domestic
number can run anywhere from 08XX XXX XXX (10 digits with the 0) to
08XX XXXX XXXX (12 digits), depending on which operator block issued it.
Telkomsel holds 0811-0813/0821/0851-0853, Indosat holds
0814-0816/0855-0858, XL Axiata holds 0817-0819/0859/0877-0879, and
newer entrants like Smartfren and Tri sit in the 088X/089X ranges. This
generator always produces the shorter 9-digit shape after +62 (as in
+62 855500000), which keeps the site consistent even though itโs on the
short end of what real Indonesian numbers actually look like.
Indonesia phone number format and example (+62)
- Example (fake):
+62 855 500 000 - International:
+62 8XX XXXXXXX(length varies by operator block, as above). - Domestic:
08XX XXXXXXX- the leading0is a national trunk prefix, dropped when dialing from abroad. - Landlines use separate geographic area codes (
021Jakarta,031Surabaya, and so on) - this generator produces mobile numbers only.
A note on the โ555โ in these numbers
Indonesia has no officially reserved block for fictional or testing phone
numbers, unlike the North American 555 convention this site borrows the
idea from. The 555 here is our own marker to make the output read as
obviously non-real, not a Komdigi-recognised range.
FAQ
Will a generated number verify on an Indonesian app like GoPay, OVO, or DANA? No. Those e-wallets send an OTP to a real SIM to activate an account, and a dummy number has no SIM behind it, so nothing is ever delivered. Use these numbers to fill and test the form, not to clear a live verification step.
Why are real Indonesian numbers sometimes longer than the ones this tool generates?
Different operators were assigned subscriber blocks of different sizes over
the years, so a real 0812 (Telkomsel) number and a real 0895 (Tri)
number donโt always have the same digit count. This generator keeps one
fixed, shorter length for consistency across the site.
What you can use them for
- Filling phone fields while testing signup, checkout, or profile forms
- Seed data for a database or a demo environment
- Screenshots, tutorials, and UI mockups that need a realistic number
- Example numbers in documentation
What they are not
These numbers cannot receive SMS or OTP codes. They are not temporary, virtual, or disposable inbox numbers. If you need to actually receive a verification code in Indonesia, you need a real SIM or a paid virtual number service - this is the wrong tool for that.
Is it legal to use a fake phone number?
Yes, for testing, demos, documentation, and mockups. Using any number - fake or real - to impersonate someone, commit fraud, or get around a verification step you're required to complete is not.
