How a Saudi mobile number is built

Every Saudi mobile number is 9 digits after the +966 country code and starts with 5. Domestically it carries a trunk 0, so mobiles are 10 digits at home: 050 123 4567. From abroad the 0 is dropped: +966 50 123 4567.

Numbers are regulated by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), known as CITC until 2023.

Operator prefixes at a glance

The digit after the 5 shows which operator originally issued a number:

Number portability means a real numberโ€™s prefix shows the original operator, not necessarily the current one. This generator picks from the 05X blocks.

A note on the โ€œ555โ€ in these numbers

Saudi Arabia has no official block of fictional phone numbers. The 555 after the prefix is this siteโ€™s own marker to make generated numbers read as test data. They have a valid Saudi shape, so they pass format checks, but they are not guaranteed to be unassigned.

FAQ

Will a generated number verify on Absher or a Saudi banking app? No. Those services send a code to a real SIM registered to a real person, and a dummy number has no SIM behind it. Use generated numbers to fill and test the form, not to pass a real verification step.

Is a Saudi mobile number 9 or 10 digits? Both, depending on the format: 10 digits domestically with the leading 0 (0501234567), 9 digits after +966 internationally (+966501234567).

Why is it CST and not CITC? The regulator was renamed from the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) to the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in 2023. The numbering plan is unchanged.

What you can use them for

What they are not

These numbers cannot receive SMS or OTP codes. They are not temporary, virtual, or disposable inbox numbers. If you need to actually receive a verification code in Saudi Arabia, you need a real SIM or a paid virtual number service - this is the wrong tool for that.

Is it legal to use a fake phone number?

Yes, for testing, demos, documentation, and mockups. Using any number - fake or real - to impersonate someone, commit fraud, or get around a verification step you're required to complete is not.

These numbers are randomly generated dummy data. They are not real, cannot receive SMS or OTP codes, and are not temporary or disposable inbox numbers. Use them for testing, examples, documentation, UI mockups, and seed data only.
