How a Bangladeshi mobile number is built
Every Bangladeshi mobile number is 10 digits after the +880 country
code, and always starts with 1. Written domestically that becomes
01XXXXXXXXX - 11 digits including the national trunk 0. So the same number
appears three ways: +8801712345678 (international), 01712345678
(domestic), and often +880 17 1234 5678 when spaced for readability.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) hands out the
second and third digits by operator under the National Numbering Plan. A dummy
number here, such as +880 1555000000, keeps the required 1XX shape but its
middle digits (55) deliberately donโt land on any real operator block.
Operator prefixes at a glance
The digit pair right after the 01 tells you which network originally issued
the number:
017,013- Grameenphone (the largest operator)019,014- Banglalink018- Robi016- Airtel (operated by Robi)015- Teletalk (state-owned)
A generated numberโs 1555โฆ pattern matches none of these, which is exactly
what you want from dummy data - it looks like a Bangladeshi mobile number
without impersonating a real, allocated one.
Bangladesh phone number format and example (+880)
- Example (fake):
+880 1555 000000 - International:
+880 1XX XXXXXXX - Domestic:
01XXXXXXXXX- the leading0is a national trunk prefix, dropped when dialing from abroad. - Landlines use separate geographic area codes (
02Dhaka,031Chattogram, and so on) - this generator produces mobile numbers only.
Mobile number portability arrived in Bangladesh in 2018, so the operator prefix is now only a starting point, not a guarantee of which network a number is actually on today.
A note on the โ555โ in these numbers
Bangladesh has no officially reserved block for fictional or testing phone
numbers, unlike the North American 555 convention this site borrows the idea
from. The 555 in a generated number is our own safety marker to make the
output obviously non-real, not an allocation recognised by BTRC.
FAQ
Is this a BD number generator?
Yes. It generates fake Bangladesh (BD) mobile numbers - a เฆซเงเฆ เฆจเฆพเฆฎเงเฆฌเฆพเฆฐ (fake number)
in the correct +880 format - for testing forms, seed data, and mockups. They
canโt receive SMS, so they wonโt work for real verification.
How many digits is a Bangladeshi mobile number?
Ten digits after the +880 country code (for example 1712345678), or eleven
if you count the domestic trunk 0 in 01712345678. Every mobile number
starts with 1.
What does a valid Bangladesh mobile number look like?
+880 followed by 1, a two-digit operator code (13-19), and seven more
digits - e.g. +880 1712 345678. Our generator matches that shape while
keeping the number unallocated.
Which mobile operators are there in Bangladesh?
Five: Grameenphone (017/013), Banglalink (019/014), Robi (018),
Airtel (016), and Teletalk (015).
Will a generated number work to verify a bKash, Nagad, or ride-share account? No. Mobile financial services and ride-share apps send an OTP to a real SIM on a real network, and a dummy number has no SIM behind it, so nothing is ever delivered. Use these numbers to fill and test the form, not to clear a live verification step.
Do the middle digits tell you the carrier?
For a real number, yes - the pairs above map to each operator. For a generated
number, no - the 555 marker doesnโt correspond to any assigned operator
block.
What you can use them for
- Filling phone fields while testing signup, checkout, or profile forms
- Seed data for a database or a demo environment
- Screenshots, tutorials, and UI mockups that need a realistic number
- Example numbers in documentation
What they are not
These numbers cannot receive SMS or OTP codes. They are not temporary, virtual, or disposable inbox numbers. If you need to actually receive a verification code in Bangladesh, you need a real SIM or a paid virtual number service - this is the wrong tool for that.
Is it legal to use a fake phone number?
Yes, for testing, demos, documentation, and mockups. Using any number - fake or real - to impersonate someone, commit fraud, or get around a verification step you're required to complete is not.
