How a Philippine mobile number is built
Every Philippine mobile number is 10 digits, always starting with 9,
under the National Telecommunications Commissionโs (NTC) numbering plan.
Carriers are assigned 4-digit blocks rather than a single fixed prefix -
Globe holds ranges like 0905/0906/0915-0917, Smart/PLDT holds
0908/0918-0920, and newcomer DITO was given the four 089X blocks
(0895-0898) when it launched in 2021. A dummy number here, such as
+63 9555000000, keeps the required 9XX shape without matching any of
those real operator blocks.
Philippines phone number format and example (+63)
- Example (fake):
+63 955 500 0000 - International:
+63 9XX XXX XXXX. - Domestic:
09XX XXX XXXX- the leading0is a national trunk prefix, dropped when dialing from abroad. - Landlines use separate geographic area codes (
02Metro Manila,032Cebu, and so on) - this generator produces mobile numbers only.
Mobile number portability has applied in the Philippines since 2021, so a carrierโs original block no longer guarantees which network a number is actually on today.
A note on the โ555โ in these numbers
The Philippines has no officially reserved block for fictional or testing
phone numbers, unlike the North American 555 convention this site
borrows the idea from. The 555 here is our own marker to make the output
read as obviously non-real, not an NTC-recognised range.
FAQ
Will a generated number verify on a Philippine app like GCash or Maya? No. Those e-wallets send an OTP to a real SIM to activate an account, and a dummy number has no SIM behind it, so nothing is ever delivered. Use these numbers to fill and test the form, not to clear a live verification step.
Why are Philippine mobile prefixes 4 digits instead of 3?
NTC allocates carrier blocks at the 4-digit level (0917, 0918, 0995,
and so on) rather than a shorter fixed prefix, which is also why DITOโs
newer 089X numbers look structurally different from the older 09XX
blocks even though both are still 11 digits domestically.
What you can use them for
- Filling phone fields while testing signup, checkout, or profile forms
- Seed data for a database or a demo environment
- Screenshots, tutorials, and UI mockups that need a realistic number
- Example numbers in documentation
What they are not
These numbers cannot receive SMS or OTP codes. They are not temporary, virtual, or disposable inbox numbers. If you need to actually receive a verification code in Philippines, you need a real SIM or a paid virtual number service - this is the wrong tool for that.
Is it legal to use a fake phone number?
Yes, for testing, demos, documentation, and mockups. Using any number - fake or real - to impersonate someone, commit fraud, or get around a verification step you're required to complete is not.
